Course Overview

The old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is perhaps at its truest for those who work with hazardous materials. This online training video shows workers with duties forcing them into contact with hazardous materials how to avoid possible life-threatening situations with proper “work practices” and “engineering controls.” Engineering controls are described as devices that keep workers safe. Like site safety and health plans, engineering controls differ from job to job. The video showcases the use of common and complex controls with special attention paid to ventilation systems, remote controlled systems and eye-wash stations. Hazardous materials are dangerous and some jobs require their use. This training video shows how compliance with a job’s detailed safety and health plan and an intimate knowledge of its specific engineering controls can limit, if not stop, personal injury and even death resulting from the misuse of hazardous materials.
