Do You Know About the Hazardous Materials at Your Workplace?

Do you know what to do if you spill that bottle of detergent? What would happen if that solvent got onto your skin or in your eyes? Do you understand the hazards of all the chemicals you come into contact with on a daily basis at work?
Under the hazard communication regulation, OSHA requires all employees and employers to be made aware of the hazardous materials around the workplace. Material Safety Data Sheets or MSDS provide one source of information where anyone can seek specific information about a material, its hazards, precautions to take before working with or around it, and what to do if an accident occurs.

The new Video On Demand training, ANSI: Material Safety Data Sheets demonstrates how workers should make use of MSDS. This program focuses on the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) format, although MSDS come in many forms.
Not only is it important to comply with OSHA regulations to avoid expensive fines, but properly using MSDS will help you make safe choices on the job allowing you to prevent accidents and injuries or respond accordingly should one occur.
