Course Overview

Driving defensively is often generalized into meaning a driver’s skills or experience. However, as this course shows, driving defensively encompasses much more than that. Dedicated to illustrating how defensive driving prevents and protects drivers against adverse conditions, this course teaches truck drivers the necessity of being aware of what is going on around them and to anticipate what could happen. Each section in this course provides defensive driving insight and guidance in the following topics: driving safely in bad weather; handling a blowout; sharing the road with other trucks and buses; dealing with distracted and aggressive drivers; and pedestrians, work zones and emergency situations. Present this course so all truck drivers understand the adverse circumstances and demands placed up them and how to deal with them as they arise.
