Eliminate Illicit Discharge and Protect Yourself and the Environment

Each day people across the country mindlessly get rid of small amounts of waste.  These include everyday items such as trash, waste oil, grass clippings, pet waste, waste anti-freeze and cigarette butts; we want to get rid of them quickly and effortlessly.  The issue with this is that if these items are not properly discarded of, they can go through storm drains, or Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), where the items may eventually end up in near streams, rivers and bays.
Illicit discharge is any discharge of non-storm water, virtually anything that did not fall from the sky, into or through the MS4s.  Illicit discharge detection and elimination (IDDE) contains two phases; detection, which is everyone’s responsibility, and elimination, which specialized personnel are trained for.
